Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Snake Bay
Just down the road from Boca Sami is Snake Bay. This dive give you the opportunity to explore the reef further South.
Nice dive site to make a long and shallow drift to Boca St.Michiel, or a shorter one in the same dive area. we spotted a small turtle, barracuda's, reef fish. Some times sea horses.
The dive site is well pointed out by (brown) roadsigns, starting around the village of Boca Sami. It is located at a public parking next to "waterside apartments". From the parking an old boat ramp leads in to the water. it is protected access in to the water because of a jetty.
Due West of Willemstad, travel 2.4 km West on Weg Naar Bullenbaai. Turn left to head to the Village of Boca Sami. When you reach the water, turn left and travel for about 1 km.
Snake Bay is also known as Slangen Baai.

You can park next to the entry point.
After the last house on the right, follow the dirt road to the beach.
The reef edge is just a minute away.

I did the snake bay yesterday. But there is a huge oil exploration ship parked off the shore drilling an exploration well around 300 yards off shore. It's making a right din that really has confused a lot of the fish. The local dive centres aren't controlling the lion fish very well either here. I saw 12 specimens down in 30 odd metres.

Curacao has marker rocks painted at each of the dive sites. According to their marker - Snake Bay is at the Wederfoort Apartments, although this is not how it is described by this site. This site describes Snake Bay as being down the road from Boca Sami and Boca Sami as being at the beach of the apartments. (Boca Sami's 'marker' as of July '03 is at the end of the road into St. Michiel at the traffic circle.) We dove off the beach at the Wederfoort Apartments. The ramp makes for an easy entry. There is a small rock jetty to the left blocking the current. The swim is fairly short. The reef was very nice, lots of young fish. Upon exit we met a local family swimming, they were very enamored of our equipment. All the kids and dad borrowed our mask and snorkels to check out the fish, the kids also had fun breathing underwater on our octos.
