NE side of Giftun Kebir Hamda is also known as Um Dom, Stone Beach.

Beutiful and easily dived reef with divesites on both east and west side. Nice corals on both sides (south is anchor place and not so nice). Hugh brain corals on the east side, turtles and schoals of goat fish and baby barracudas. West side has two pinacles and sometimes eagle rays passing by on the outer side of the pinacles. Look out for agressive triggerfish in September. This is a nice place, but unfortunately too popular and too close to the big resorts in south Hurghada. Do not try to go here in August or September, here is more divers than fish. Stormy days and wintertime is better. South Hurghada Gota Abu Ramada is also known as The Aquarium.

Abu Nugar is a big reef system in north Hurghada. Very nice hard coral (one of the best for coral in Hurghada) but not so much fish. Shallow and quit easy, visibility sometimes bad. North from Hurghada Gota Abu Nugar North is also known as Erg Iris, Gota Abu Nugar.

One of the nicest drifts in Hurghada. Beautiful hard coral and one of the best places to spot sharks and Napoleon fish in Hurghada. The current can be anything from mild to horrible, so this is not a site for beginners. Good for the rest of us, though, as you seldom find more than one or two groups of divers there. West side of Small Giftun Island Erg Somaya is also known as Small Giftun Drift, Erg Samaya, Giftun erg.

The Excalibur was a 22m long twin mast motor and sail vessel. Hurghada Harbour. Access by boat or from the beach in front of the bar named "The Chill". The Excalibur Wreck is also known as The Suzanna Wreck.

El Mina was a 70m long Egyptian minesweeper. She was bombed in 1969. Hurghada harbour. El Mina Wreck is also known as The Harbour Wreck.

Very nice dive with a lot of tiny creatures. This is also a good place to meed dolphins ! This dive site has many names, including "Dolphin Reef" and "Turtle Bay". Small reef located northeast of Giftun Island. 45min from Hurghada. Torfa Fanous East is also known as Fanus East, Torfa Fanus, Dolphin Reef, Turtle Bay.

South of Abu Ramada islet! Sha'ab Abu Ramada is also known as Abu Ramada South, Shab Abu Ramada.

The Susanna Wreck rests on the sea floor only a few hundred meters off shore near Ramoza beach. This dive can be either from the beach or a boat. Susana Wreck is also known as Susana.

By boat from Hurghada. An extension of the Umm Gamar Reef, this reef starts about 1 kilometer south of Umm Gamar, it is the top of an underwater mountain. Shabrur Umm Gamar is also known as Shabrur Oum Gamar.

Great for a drift dive. This is an underwater shelf about 30 meters wide with a reef on the west side, and a drop off wall on the east. Part of the Abu Nugar complex, and west of Umm Gamar, this is a sand bottom with scattered coral heads. Very interesting for seeing little fish and branches since there is enough sand that you can ground yourself withoug worrying about hitting the coral here. This is a not so well known dive site off the north tip of Grand Giftun island. It's a small horseshoe reef with a shallow swim through to a bowel reef that is absolutely filled with fish and coral. This was the most like swimming in an aquarium that I have found and one of my favorite dives. By boat from Hurghada Turtle Bay is also known as Torfa Hamada.

A good reef for night dives, access right from the shore. House Reef for night diving, can be accessed right from the dock, the reef starts right away after about a 5 meter sandy section.

Down at 40 meters there is a protrusion of the reef with an opening about 10 meters long that you can swim through. The top of this "cave" is at 40m, and it goes down to 49m. After going through, it's a nice swim along the reef. Also good for drift diving as the currents can be strong here.

After the drop off from the boat you can go down to a cave about 10 meters in length that is open at both ends. The top to the cave it at about 38 meters, and goes down to about 48 meters. after you go through, it is a great swim back up along the reef to the surface. Abu Ramada Cave is also known as Diver's Alley, Sha'ab Abu Ramada Cave.

In a national park, ensure that your dive group has all of the necessary permits prior to diving. Park services do visit boats to verify.

From Shore, you jump in a 4m diameter hole 2~3m deep, a rope will lead you outside, south part sounds always like a good idea, depth near by the wall reef is around 12~14m out side will be more than 25m, after 20 min you will find a big pinnacle surrounded with snappers and big eye emperor, top of the pinnacle is around 11m, bottom around 37m (only good weather site) Mainly a shore dive which can be accessed by boat, the name mean the hole of snappers, has a very nice swines though with ropes for security against current, which make it a good weather only dive site :)

Carless Reef is the most famous coral shoal in the coastal area of Hurghada. This dive site is situated one hour of Hurghada, it is a mid sea reef plateau pushing up from the Abyss. The reef itself centres on two peaks or pinnacles which brush the surface in an otherwise open sea. The valley between these pinnacles is about 16m deep, and offers a wide range of dive possibilities for those not interested in deep diving. A few metres east of the saddle, a steep wall drops well beyond 40m, with a contoured profile offering many caves and cavelets for the more experienced diver. Large gorgonians, pushing black corals, coral fish and moray eels (large population of semi-tame moray eels), and some white tip sharks. Careless reef is located 3 miles NNE from Giftun El Kebir island, south of Shaab Umm Qamar. Carless Reef is also known as Careless Reef.

Plateau with 3 pinacles covered in soft coral and small orange fish. Deeper small caves and moray eels. Black tipped reef sharks and barracudas can curuise by. Less dived because it can have very strong current. East side of Abu Ramada reef Erg Abu Ramada is also known as Camel Reef.

This offshore Island is surrounded by good diving on all sides. The south end has a shallow plateau where the moorings are positioned, this location is the most used. For first timers at Umm Gamar the dive will take place from the plateau, moving eastwards to the drop off then north along the wall. After a short swim against the current you reach three pinnacles close together, chimneys reach through the pinnacles toward the surface. After exploring this area you take advantage of the light current to drift back to the corner of the plateau where three small ergs are found, covered in glass fish. Finish the dive on the plateau exploring the numerous coral heads and reef fish. The plateau is home to Napoleons, Emperor Angels and free swimming Morays. The east and west side have awesome drift dives and the northern tip or "halg" has a magnificent coral garden but is only accessible in very good weather. Big groupers and lots of sweepers live in the multiple caves found along the eastern and western walls and drop offs of this tiny island's fringing reef. By Boat from Hurghada or El Gouna. This place is mostly dived with soth winds (not very often) and can have anything from mild to horrible current. Good place to spot turtles, barracudas, reefsharks, octopus and moray eels.
