The Tower is what is left of an old cable car system that brought iron ore from a mine in the mountains to waiting barges off shore. The rock and concrete piling is still in tact with many holes for eels and various fish to live in. There is also the remains of the crane arm sunk in about 30 feet of water. A short distance away is a sunken barge that presumable was used to transport the ore. We saw Moray and Conger Eels, several octopus, Wrasses, and Scorpionfish along with many typical Mediterranean fish. Overall, this was an interesting site with vis as the primary challenge. Bring a compass.
5 min by boat from Porto Marbella. Could potentially dive this site from the shore from the beach allong N-340 or A-7. The site is about 300 yards off shore and the surf was not overly strong.
The Tower Marbella is also known as Tower.

Fantastic easy wreck dive of a XVIII century ship, suppose to be an army ship in really bad conditions. French captain burned the ship named La Madeleine to avoid British army from Gibraltar to get it.
The wreck is not registered. Still you can find buttons from the officer' uniforms. Please do not touch, is illegal. Amazing live. Good for underwater archaeology
Local divers still keep this dive site as a secret.
Be responsible and good dive!
From the beach of San Pedro de Alcantara, between Guadalmina and puerto banus, easy parking and equip.
NOTICE: Saturdays and Sundays about 2pm all the young couples are walking over there. The girls always use to give to divers a good look and the boyfriends will give you a dirty look. Nice for the self-steem...The site...straight from the shore about 150 mts.
El Galeon Lys is also known as El Lys, La Madelaine.
