The dive center is just a hop away from the jetty, which is where we launch the boat for our dive trips every day. Our diving is mainly done around Neil Island, but dive trips to the more frequented tourist island of Havelock, which is an hour away by boat, can also be arranged.

The waters of Neil Island are virtually unexplored and have been dived by only a handful of divers. The marine life has to be seen to be believed (will give any Fish Identification book a run for its money).On the visual menu are, Rays, Barracudas, Turtles, Parrot Fish, Butterfly Fish, Sea snakes, Wrasses, Clown Fish, Moray Eels, Jacks, Box Fish, Puffer Fish, Angel Fish, Blennies, and everything in-between, and of course, the stars of the show, the sea cows. The reef has not been damaged by El Nino, and has escaped coral bleaching. There is beautiful, healthy hard and soft coral in a spectacular array of colours. It is also one of the very few places in the world where corals and mangroves co-exist, adding to the unique bio-diversity.

We recognise that different people learn at different speeds – besides, you are on vacation and may want to spread out your training. We are flexible about our course duration. Your course will run as long as is needed in order for you to learn the skills in the program. We go with your comfort level. Sometimes, if the Instructor feels the need, we include an extra dive in the same course to ensure your training is not compromised. Our patient Dive Masters and Instructors give adequate time and attention to each and every student till he/she gets it right. That's also one of the reasons we get rave reviews from all over.

We do our best to make every dive course and dive program a very personal and memorable experience. Our team brings a wealth of experience, commitment and passion - a team with global experience who genuinely enjoys sharing diving experience with our guests. Our passion for scuba diving and the ocean drives our Dive Instructors and Dive Masters to ensure our guests of all ages understand the details about dives gear, marine life, fish identification, dive sites, ocean conservation, etc after every dive.

Our dive center boasts of a great and healthy marine reef with safe and shallow golden white sandy patch on our private Gypsy Beach. It is perfect for Confined Water Training sessions during the courses with students as well as for training the first time dive program guests. The courses' dive sessions are done in an open air classroom, under coconut trees, just front of the beach. We maintain separate sets of dive equipment for students, courses & fun divers.

Our Dive Instructors, Dive masters and rest of the team is always ready to help you and happy to answer all your questions regarding diving, dive center, dive equipment, air quality certification, safety records, dive boat, medical issues, etc. So don't hesitate and feel free to ask any question you might have.

ACCOMMODATION

Our philosophy is value for money - we aren't trying to offer the cheapest possible accommodation, nor are we trying to build a super high-end resort. We are geared towards people who want a comfortable accommodation and friendly, personal service while retaining the feeling of being in a remote and exotic tropical destination - but without paying 5-star resort rates. 

Our priority is to come all together share travel stories laugh enjoy the stay make new friends, create share the memories and have memorable time on island. 

 We aren't a big resort, nor do we want to become one. We like knowing all our guests by name and BCD / fin sizes . And that way, everyone gets to have a hammock as well (and we don't have to give up ours!).

Gypsy divers offers 10 standard rooms with all required amenities and 2 Dom rooms with bed and breakfast .

Chidiya Tapu is south of Port Blair (40 min drive south from the airport), a magnificent location that has a lush and pristine heritage of natural wonders. This beautifully secluded spot is an escape from the regular crowd of visitors at Havelock islands, giving Lacadives the luxury of rarely encountering other dive boats on the reef. 

Guests are given a highly personalized experience, where instead of a multitude of divers crowding the boat, we focus on each diver’s individual comfort and minimize our footprint on the reefs. 

Chidiya Tapu also has great exploration opportunities on land; one can walk to the lighthouse, visit the biological reserve and observe many species endemic to the Andaman. It is a paradise for bird-watchers; avid enthusiasts will enjoy the drive down from Port Blair. It's also believed to be the best place to see sunsets on the Andaman Islands. 15 minutes away from our dive center lies a shipwreck, the remnants of an East India Company cargo boat that sank in 1918, making for a breath-taking view and yet another amazing feature of the location! 

The outer edges of the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park and the islands of Rutland and Cinque have a number of potential dive sites yet to be explored. From the dives that we have done in the area so far, we know that these waters offer some spectacular diving.
