The lake is marine, 30 m deep, and characterized by both oxic and anoxic water layers separated by a distinct chemo-and thermocline. Above 15 m, the lake is well lighted, oxic, and with normal marine salinity and temperatures. Below that, the lake is dark and anoxic with high sulfide content in the water and sediment.
The locals tell visitors before they jump in the water: "when you see 1000 jellyfish, keep going, when you see 10,000 jellyfish, keep going, when you see 100,000 jellyfish, keep going, when you see 1,000,000 jellyfish, stop, you're there."
This is a unique snorkeling experience!

Her final resting place is a little over 5 miles north of the Malakal Harbor entrance west of Babeldaob.

When I last dove her there was a monkey's fist (Big knot)about 10 feet under the surface that you must tie off to.

Not for the faint of heart. A dark cave with one small entrance opening into a huge room. There is a rope to use as a guide back. You nusually swil above and away from it. Do not stir the silt in the bottom. People have died here.

outstanding spot for experienced divers only!!! lots of current can be expected here as well as lots of sharks. usually grey reef sharks but if you´re lucky you can encounter bull sharks, tiger sharks and even whale sharks or whales. everything is possible here, so have a look into the blue!
boat only. sometimes with a day boat, but normally just on request as it is one of the farest spots to get on a day trip. best is a livaboard to explore all the spots around peleliu.
