The most interesting area is the one on the left just outside the cove, although it is highly exposed to NW wind: plenty of nice rocks and small caves, home of nudibranchs, fishes and other animals.



Portalga

Steamship "Sara" on the way from Italy to Patras sunk 02.02.1925 due to bad weather conditions N of Othoni island. Heavy loaden with cement sacks.

At the wreck you´ll find sponges. There are only few divers a year.

At he north side of Nissos Othonus ( Othoni Island)boating from w around the famous mountain coast you find the beach at the gps position. There you find a wreck with cement loading, lying there over 30 years. The head of the wreck is in about 10m 50m seawards the beach. Perhaps you try to find it snorkeling behind the boat with a rope while the captain is heading slowly from w to e.

It´s not possible going there when you have n-wind! The sea there will be like a washing machine!

Northern side of Othoni island. You can go there only by boat.

Following the canyon, going through the blue in 25m direction west you can find the moray outside reef after about 50-60m. The reef top is at about 17m and going down to 65m. You are now far out and the way back is very far and difficult to find. Do this after several dives here and be care of the current!!!
You find the reef following a sandy way in the bottom at 50m, beginning at the canyon. This sandy way you have to find for the way back!

Anchor at the gps-position, 20m NE of the over water rock. The reef goes 120m direction seaside of the rock with two big reef heads at the seaside going down to 45m. Between the reef heads a canyon.

Big Moray reef is also known as Große Muräne.

Looking seaside there are two reefs going down to 60m. At the left one (south-west corner) in 30m is a cave/crack going inside the skeludi for about 8-10m. Not so easy to find and deep.



Skeloudi Island is also known as Bobby Rock.
