Visibility is poor here. Huge fish and crawdads are the size of lobsters over by the damn. Overall, a decent site to dive; not the greatest, but not the worst.

State Park people were very helpful for rental & advice to a novice diver. Boat diving is available. Things to see include a boat wreck, spoonbill catfish, and "enchanted forest."

We dove at the Dewey Short Dive area off of highway 165 near the dam. Water temp above thermal cline was 83 at surface, and 70 at thermal cline. However at 100+ feet it did get considerably colder 50+ degrees. Vis was 6-8 ft above thermal cline, and at 100+ was 20-30 ft.

Diving here sucks, but if you live around the mid-west it is about as good as it gets. It is cold muddy and little vis, but if you can dive here you can dive almost anywhere. A good place to practice skills.
