Whiskey Cove Lane

A word of warning. A 100 meter path takes you to the water's edge. Beware of the fierce and elusive White Wolf! It's an easy walk into the water. Just beware of the boats, especially on the weekends.

All around had a great dive this morning. We did a surface swim a little past the docks and descended to the bottom. We went toward the island and had a nice slow swim along the bottom of the cliff (about 55ft) Only saw four fish but did see a huge sea cucumber it must have been over two feet long. We went a little further down the sandy slope to about 70ft just to explore but only discovered more sand. A little Rainy and Overcast and our flashlights were HUGE assets looking into the cracks and overhangs. Visibility 8ft. Temperature 4c

I went there just to check my gear the first time I used it, and was underweight so I couldn't get down without a fight, I think that was the end of March. Vis was good. I've been there around 10 times since, and the visibility has gotten progressively worse. Two weeks ago it was around 3 feet. I'm gonna try again next weekend. If you are looking, you'll see something new each dive. A fair amount of undersize Dungeness.

Did this dive as my 1st time out after certification. Entered the water about an hour an a half after high tide. The site itself was beautiful. Very peaceful and the locals are friendly as long as you respect their neighborhood. One very kind lady even took our photo to journal our 1st time out as certified divers. Dove the wall on the right just past the 2nd wharf 1st, and vis was not poor but not excellent. About 10 - 12 feet. Lots of small life. If you take your time you can see a lot. Dove the wall on the west side of the small rock island 2nd (on the left side). Down to about 50 feet. Lots of crabs (many different types) and sea stars. A very easy site to dive and great for noobs. At the end of the dive when we were almost in we discovered a small seal was following us. Not sure how long it had been watching us but half way to shore we heard it 'sploosh' behind us. We were swimming to shore on our backs. Then we saw it surface about 50 feet out into the cove in front of us. Very close quarters to boats and docks while swimming out so beware of that. All in all a great day and we will go back.

Have dived here before several times. Frankly I was a little bit disappointed with the visibility, considering it was February. It couldn't have been more than 8-9 feet. Almost lost my buddy several times when the vis was even less than that. Dived here in the summer and the place was teeming with Dungeness and Rock crabs, but this time we only saw one. Lots of little decorator crabs, sea stars, and several brightly coloured nudibranchs.

Whiskey Cove is a great place to dive. I did my open water certification here and had a blast. There are four dives here but I've only done one of them. It's an interesting wall that drops to about 60ft at its greatest depth. Lots of crabs, nudibranchs, seastars, rock cod and more!

Dove here just to get wet again since we haven't been "under" in awhile. Lots of nudibranchs here to see and had an unexpected visitor. Felt a pull on my fin, turned around and face to face there I am with a seal. Ended our dive. At the surface we saw the seal again a short ways off. Took a chance and dropped again in the harbour to about 8 meters. Again we suddenly had a visitor show up to see us. Looked like a smaller young seal, very curious and not shy!!!

Easy relaxing dive, small island off to left drops down to about 60 feet and is covered in shrimp to wall seem to move. Rock fish can be seen feeding on shrimp when illuminated with your dive light. Watch for boat traffic. Water temp 50 degF.

The best part of this dive are the crab. A pretty shallow dive if you stay on the wall and the island. Visibility can be a problem. Watch out for boats coming in and out of the cove and for cables which anchor the docks. A nice and relaxing dive close to home for those of us who live in the suburbs.

Boring

A very nice relaxing dive, largely on the wall to the left (looking from the cove). It's very shallow (4 ft) between the large rock and the mainland, so stick outside the rock. A fair bit of life on the wall, with Dungeness crabs and a young wolf eel. Visibility was pretty poor, but it was the spring and overcast. A nice site overall.

good novice site. not much parking 4/5vehicles.viz bad after lots of rain. to night dive contact park operator (phone #at site). dive rock to left of bay or wall to left .relatively shallow/60 70 ft max. lots of crabs and small life.
