Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Manohole
Manohole is another great dive. Entry should be attempted only during calm seas. There are no facilities here.
Manohole is located at the mile 8.2 mark on Highway 30. Look for the washed out entrance road.

If you do have the proper vehicle, parking down here is ample.
It can be a little difficult walking across the lava rocks to get to the deeper water. Hold you buddy's hand for the first few yards to stabilize your entry.
Kick out to the deeper water, determine the current and dive accordingly.

We made it down and up the dirt road in an old VW van, but it has eroded since then, making a 4WD vehicle necessary unless you want to park along the narrow shoulder of the highway. Very shallow reef for a long way out, making the entry and exit difficult. Probably better suited to snorkeling. To me, it's not worth the effort with the easier and more interesting flanking sites of McGregor Point and the Scenic Outlook.

Pretty cool spot. Need 4WD + good clearance to get down from the road or hike in about 1/8 mile (uphill coming back). Camping is good there but kinda trashy I'm sorry to report. Entry is best at high tide and easiest with booties. To the left, there are a couple of sand holes that make it a little easier. A definite knee scraper without leg covering. Around the North point is the best in my opinion. Acres of finger coral slope down to 50 or 60 feet. Lots of shells - please don't take live ones. Lots of eels, reef fish and occasional Ulua (jacks). Good year-round when there are no major swells from the South or West. Winter is my favorite because the Humpback Whale sounds seem louder there than anywhere on the island. Maybe it echoes off the Pali (cliffs)?
