Very nice reef. A coral garden is on both east and west side.

Middle Reef

Probably the most beautiful site in the area, for its coral formations and pelagic life. Great walls with large seafans, jacks, barracuda, reef sharks, green turtles.

Blacktail and hammerhead sharks are frequently sighted.

This is one of the most distant dive site of Safaga. Located SE, at about one hour by boat.

Abu Kefan is also known as Abu el Kifan, Abu Kafan, Abu Gafan.

Usually you get there for the whole day (2 dives). This is one of the most famous dive site of the area ! You can do several dives: S SE and E and NE.

There is large coral formations, some time sharks and a lot of fishes (stonefish, clownfish, napoleon, etc.).

Don't miss anemone paradise (SSE) with all clown-fish and damselfish...

Don't work - just drift dive. Usually turtle or / and dolphin can be found and accompany divers for some time. 

The south plateau lies on a depth of 35 meter. mostly protected from currents.

Panorama reef is located W from Safaga. It's a long boat time... But a gorgeous dive!

Panorama reef is also known as Oma Alama, Abu Alamah.

Sha'ab sheer reef is located SE from Safaga. It's a large reef where boats stays for the night during cruises.

Shark point is located on the E point of the reef.

This is a big coral head comming from 17m to 6m. It is covered of wonderfull soft corals.

Located southeast of Sha'ab Sheer.

Sha'ab Claude

The Salem Express is the only wreck of the area. This is a ferry who was carrying pilgrims returning from Mecca. The boat sunk in 1992 during the night.

300 victims perished in one of the greatest marine tragedies of all time. Many divers avoid this site considering it a morbid forbidding place.

The wreck lays on the side, between 5 and 30m deep. You can enter some large places.

Anyway enterring the wreck is stricly forbiden. The Wreck is clasified as maritim Tombe.

It's up to you to decide if you want to dive in cemetery and try before to take your decision to take the place of somebody who lose relative inside.

Going in is an absolute "no do", but going there every year or two is interesting to see how nature slowly regains this tragic place.

The wreck is located south of Hyndman reef, southeast of Port Safaga.

Sha'ab Sheer - Coral Paradise

An oustanding, but very far, dive site of Safaga. Gorgeous soft coral structure, and a huge butterfly-fish shoal.

This is the most distant dive site in the South of Safaga. It is located after Sha'ab Sheer reef.

Sha'ab Hamdalla is also known as Shaab Hamdalla, Shab Hamdalla.
