Scandola marine reserve, northwest of porto.

Don't forget to dive into the fault to the right. It extends into the mainland and forms a cave some 20m long at whose ene you can make surface. Entrance to the cave is at about -8m. there are some more tunnels and passages under rocks that you can dive through at about -25m.

From Porto pass the beach of Ficajola. The site is just behind the tip of the cape.

Incredible reef architecture... really the best of the area. It's the favourite dive of the instructors.
Good quantity of fishes as groupers & sars but nothing comparable that Scandola dive.

Capo Rosso

Sunk 3 septembre 1971 when trying to tank water for a drop on a forest fire. The 2 pilots survived.
The Wreck is in a good shape; engines are missing. Wreck penetration is possible.

Accident report: August 3 1971 : Canadair CL 215 F-ZBBG n°1025 W/O (Pélican 25), Sagone Gulf, Corsica, France. Victims: Patillaud, Lebel J. The aircraft sunk.

200 meter from shore. 8° from the Sagone turm and 273° from the point of triu.

Nice dive site not far from Calvi. You can go down to -45m to the left or right of a big rock that forms a plateau under water. If you keep the rock to your left you will eventually find an overhand with red corals growing on it. 

Very nice seascape, but - surprisingly enough - not much life at all.



Punta Rosa

The B17 American Bomber was used during WWII (1941+). It was also named the "Flying Fortress", becauce of it's 13 machine guns!

In 1944, the B17 G "Baron" was in mission in Italy. Unfortunately, German fighters hit the Baron. Without any radio, the pilot Frank Chaplick, decide to fly to Calvi (Corsica, France). The landing strip was too short, so he decided to land on sea.

Location: Calvi, France.
The B17 wreck is N from the Calvi citadel, at the foot of a small green lighthouse.  Easily accessible as a shore dive or use one of the numerous dive operators in Calvi who run daily trips.

Not far from the famous Pointe de la Revellata, which you can even join diving. You will find the typical mediterranean fishes like groupers, the painted comber, Diplodu vulgari, twobar seabreams etc. There are also octupus end with some luck you might see some big gilt-head bream or even tuna.

A site which is excellent for children and for first dives, since there is a shallow no more than 6 meters deep, where you can already see a lot of marine life without going too deep.
