The shore diving was just average, nothing unique. The whole of hwy 1 up and down the Keys looks very similar to me. To really see what this park has to offer, you have to take the guided boat snorkel tour. That takes you several miles offshore. This park has in my opinion one of the most amazing shallow reefs to see. Full of larger fish and lobsters. Keep in mind that this park fills up and closes once full head capacity. And also that the guided boat tours don't run if weather is bad.

We dove and had a wonderful time. We dove 2 dives, both ranging from 30-45 feet with good viz and almost no current. The reefs, sharks, fish, all of it was incredible! There are even a few swim thru corals and the reef formations are amazing! Highly recommended!

This is more of a snorkel review than a dive review because we were told that scuba from the shore isn't permitted in the park. Snorkeling sure is and is one of it's main attractions. The park is lovely. A nice beach and nice wildlife and plants can be found on a stroll through the boardwalk areas. A bird watchers heaven. Very shallow and crowded at times. Small entry fee per car. Full service scuba shop (they do run boat trips to the local reefs) and great facilities. Worth a day trip if you are in Key Largo diving.
