French Cay

We saw reef sharks on the wall and found some nurse sharks resting on the coral beds at 50'. Large red elephant-ear sponges.

Went there in lat March of 2012 with Dive Provo. At the time, there were three mooring buoys located west of French Cay. G-spot was the easternmost of the moorings and it gets its name from a turn on the wall dips south and then turns north to create a shape that resembles a letter 'G' (according to the dive guide). The mooring is in about 50 ft of water but the wall drops very fast so, if the current/wind move the boat to the south of the mooring buoy, it may end up in over 100'. Follow the wall towards the east then turn around and ascend to 60' to return towards the boat on the edge of the wall where there is plenty of marine life. Boat drive is about 45 minutes from Provo and dive operators go there when weather is good.

The name Whiteface comes from the appearance of the ironstone shoreline cliff that is directly inshore from this site off West Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The name Anchor or Spanish Anchor comes from the old shop anchor that is embedded in the coral within a swim through at the edge of the wall. Watch carefully, as the anchor has been there so long it is completely encrusted with sponges and corals. The dome was originally built as a prop for the set of a French reality TV show. Although the show is now off the air, the ruins of the dome remain and provide shelter to schooling fish and other organisms. If you like tiny creatures then you're in for a treat, as this dive site is home to countless gobies and tube-dwelling blennies
