Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at East Wall - Islet de Bas-Limbe
The site is a wall on the eastern face of the island. The bottom has large boulders to swim around and is mostly a rock surface with small coral formations here and there. The fish life is surprisingly limited given the rocks there that offer shelter.
The surge can be considerable especially as long shore currents and wind generate wave action. It is better to dive in the mornings before the swells start to form in the afternoons.
The site must be accessed by boat from Bord de Mer which is a 10 minute drive from the main road between Cap Haitien and Limbe. The fishermen are more than happy to help given fishing has become increasingly difficult with the decline of coastal fish stocks.
You can hire a boat to row you over to the Islet de Bas-Limbe and ask the fishermen to follow your bubble while you are submerged.
