Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at HIJMS Kumano

While undergoing repairs in Santa Cruz on 25 November 1944, Kumano came under aerial attack by aircraft launched by the Ticonderoga. Five torpedoes and four 500 pound bombs struck her, and at 1515 she rolled over and sank in about 31 m (100 ft) of water. source Wikipedia The wreck lies on it's port side. You can put a flipper on it at 55'. You have to hire a local banca boat to reach the wreck. All the locals can put you on it. It's great dive and you may find a Nikonos camera dropped there in 1972. The Japanese Heavy Cruiser Kumano off shore of the city of Santa Cruz, Luzon Island rep. of the Philippines. HIJMS Kumano is also known as 熊野.
