Great dive. Definitely go in the summer months. This was the first time for me here. I got all the info from this web-page. Myself and 2 buds just surface swam out and bared to the right until it looked deep enough and descended. We found a buoy/submerged boat tie-off rope. It was about 20 feet below the surface, I ascended where it was and shot an azimuth there. The back-azimuth is 25 degrees north from the life guard shack. Saw a turtle that was as big as a Volkswagen...almost. Lot of shells, if ya know where to look.

I hate to be negative but...I gotta agree with previous reviews. This is not a good dive spot. Free diving yes, spear fishing yes, but not scuba it just doesn't get deep enough. I saw the usual reef fish but not many and not a whole lot more.

Electric Beach, this is the only name I've ever know for this spot. First, I want to say that I've know people whose cars have been broken into at this site. At this particular site there is a large homeless (but well off) man named Jacob that resides here, and he will "watch" your vehicle for you while you dive, for a price...ie..Big Mac, Whopper or equivalent. This is a great beginners dive though, especially in the summer months. The man made reef which is the exhaust vents of the electric plant is teeming with life. Corals and a plethora of sea life encompasses this site. Turtles are a common site here, I have also HEARD Spinner Dolphins here on occasion in the early morning hours. Don't get directly in front of the vents however, you will go for a ride to say the least. Spear fishing is always a popular activity here as well.

You can enter 2 ways here: 1) you can swim through the first cut to the left in the lagoon, but make sure its higher tide or 2-3 ft. waves coming in. It is the best way to enter but you really have to "claw" your way through the rocks in the cut. The "cut" is a space in the wave break wall that allows waves to pass through. 2) You can enter at a small sandy patch to the left that faces Ali Wai canal. It is a long boring shallow swim until you reach the corner of the wave break wall. I've always seen turtles here, some smaller cowries, the normal Hawaiian reef fish, and alot of debris (garbage). Make sure you have a dive flag with you for this dive due to the boat traffic to and fro the Ali Wai canal. I did once see a 5 foot white tip reef shark here a few dives back, as soon as he/she saw us it was gone. Visibility is not always the best here, especially if it has rained in the last few days. The worst thing about this dive is the walk from the parking lot to the entry point...all in all it is an ok dive. Heineken is always welcome in the Ali Moana beach park on Magic Island.

I did this dive in November when there was only 1-2 ft. waves. There is a restroom/shower facility there at the beach park, right next to the parking lot. The toughest part of the dive is getting from the parking lot over to the beach. It is not far, but very exhausting wearing cumbersome scuba gear. Easy shore entrance and exit. All of the sights here are along the Makapu'u cliff wall over to the right, but be cautious for rogue fishing hooks. Many fisherman sit on a ledge of the cliff and cast their lines off sporadically. I only got about 3/4 of the way out to the point, and the depth was no more than 40 ft. Lots of triggerfish, some milkfish, smaller parrotfish, and the ubiquitous wrasses were plentiful. I did not night dive here but the site didn't give me that option. I've heard that Rabbit Island (which is in Makapu'u Bay) is supposed to be pretty scenic on the Kai side, but must be reached by boat or kayak. If anyone has done it let me know. And remember, only drink Heineken AFTER you dive.…
