Fun to meet other divers!

I have dove here the last two years probably 80 times 12 months a year. The visibility varies from 10 to 100 feet. Depending if you are by docks 4, 5, or 6 when OWS classes are being held or if you dive in January and February with the viz 75 to 100 ft. There are a lot of sunken things to see: helicopter, airplane, boats, car, truck, tubes to swim through. Many, many trout and if you are lucky you will see 5 to 6 foot long Paddlefish and there is one or two Sturgeon. In the Winter the water is generally 36 to 39 F. In the Summer 40 F at 100 ft to 75 in the shallow areas by the docks. There is a place for handicap access. Watch out for the stairs leading to the docks they can be extremely slick so hold onto the handrails. You can dive 365 days a year & in the Summer you can get air fills.

The diving is great for a quarry. I will never dive there again until it is under new management.

Winter brings the hard core divers with buoyancy control, and the visibility is usually fantastic even on the weekends. Mike makes chili for the New Years Day dive. It's a great place to take classes since a variety of depths are available. Most attractions are in the 3 foot range and ropes make navigation easy for new divers. The new instructor platform rocks!

Best shore diving in Ohio, and I would think it has to be top 10 in the mid-west. Located about 15 miles West of Findlay, OH by taking US 224 until you see a giant cement "Steer" (you know…a cow) making a left turn, going to the blinking light and turning right, it's about a mile down on the left. Lot's of things to see including a Gruman Gulfstream IV airplane. There are several different depth levels from 25 to 60 and then "over-the-wall" to 115 to 135 feet. There are several entry points, a platform with steps, and there is also a walk-in. They have a great dive shop and offer air to O2. There are several types of fish life from a school of rainbow (which expect to be fed) to a prehistoric type known as Paddlefish - these are truly a spectacular sight!

This is a wonderful dive site. Just be sure you check in at the office first. The owner is a wonderful guy as long as you follow the rules and the staff is great in helping answer your questions.

A little on the cold side. Several entry points to pick from. Shallow end for beginners and 120' end for advanced. Plenty of sights underwater. On site camping & cooking, showers and air fills.

One of the best places in the midwest. Can get crowded on weekends, best to go during the week or early Saturday morning. Once all the beginning divers get in the water on Saturday, the viz deteriorates over the weekend. Lots of things to see, my favorite is the plane. Go over and swim along the wall for the best viz. Owners are very nice people and run a good, fun operation.
