Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Hobsonville Point
Hobsonville Point is an out-of-the-way dive site with no facilities, but a lot of scenery! Look for crabs, clams, and treasure. Once on the beach you'll notice that there use to be a large dock on the point, so who knows what you'll find!
From Portland, take Highway 26 West to Highway 6 West into Tillamook on the coast. Drive North 9.9 miles into the Heart of Garibaldi. Now do a U-turn and drive 2.4 miles South back to the turn-off below (or just drive 7.5 miles North of Tillamook!)

There's plenty of parking for you and 20 of your friends.
It's an easy wade into the water. Be careful of underwater protrusions from the old dock.
At the end of the parking area, find this trail head. There is a sign here of current harvesting regulations.

We did this site on a really nice sunny day in February. The entry was the easiest, but he animal and plant life were less than expected. This is what I imagine the moon being like if it was covered with water. You could limit on clams in a hurry, but good luck on crabs, we saw only one. A ton of hermit crabs. The vis was about 8'. Next time up there I might try the lumber dock or the jetty.

This was my third Pacific NW dive. Hit it in the fall. Good vis but poor life at that time of year. Lots of small crabs and plenty of oyster/clams/scallops. No big fish to talk about, but plenty of open shallow spaces. Great for a beginner dive.
