Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at McKinney Park, Lake Winnipesaukee
One of the only public accesses on Lake Winnipesaukee. Good stuff to see. There is a full service dive shop only about 4 miles away.
Directions to McKinney Park:Take 93 north to Concord. In Concord get off on 15E (393/202/4/9) Follow to the end of 393 merges onto 2ndary road (Weathervane on Right) Continue for about 2 miles. At first set of lights take a left onto Main St Chichester. At the end of Main Street go left onto 28 North. Drive on 28 North for 40 minutes. At the Alton Circle cont. in 28 North into Wolfeboro. There will be a 90 degree bend in the road, about a mile beyond there will be the hospital. Across from the Hospital is Clark Road. Turn left onto Clark Road. Follow to end. Park at top of hill and walk down. Staging area at bottom. Swimming off to the right towards Wolfeboro Bay is not very exciting. If you swim off to the left it is a great dive with lots of marine life...bass, perch, sunnies to name a few. The average usually will go no deeper than 40 feet. Someone with good air consumption and diving skills could see the wall that goes from 60 feet to 110.

Clark Point is no longer available to use as an open water dive location for certification.. parking is only available for a handful of cars in park, as on-street parking is now prohibited by BOS.

Dove this site 8-22-2011. Pretty good chop as it was windy today. Visibility was around 15-20 feet depending on depth and sunlight. Most interesting route is to go left and follow the shore line at about 30 to 40 feet depth. Found lots of fish, some quite friendly and they followed us around. Located the rowboat Bumblebee in about 40 feet of water which also had a geo-cache box hooked to it. Nothing fantastic but a good place to get wet on Lake Winnipesaukee. Porta-potty at parking lot. Picnic table by water makes good spot to gear up.

This is a great place for beginners or refresher courses. The entry is quite rocky as well as the trail leading to the site, but the bottom is full of boulders, sandy openings and a small boat named 'Bumblebee'. Take a heading 270 degrees out for 75yds and there is a marker underwater to set your flag. Go 240 degrees from there for 20 yards or so and the small boat is wrecked there. There are a number of big small mouth bass and fresh water mussels to feed them. Nice place for a possible night dive.

Fun little place to get away from the crowded sites. GREAT for beginners since it doesn't get too deep. All in all, worth checking out if you are a beginner or have one in your group.

Easy dive away from the throngs of people. Small park, easy to miss nestled between private lakefront houses. Sandy bottom and interesting rock formations. Make sure you float a dive flag as the boat traffic is pretty heavy.
