One of the best reef dives in the British Virgin Islands.  Ginger Steps combines two unusual features.  The deeper portion of the dive tumbles down in three distinct ledges (the "steps" which give the site its name) to the deep water bottom at about 92 feet.  Facing out to the deep water, there is always an excellent chance of seeing deepwater pelagic fish.

At the top, the reef contains two large arenas of sand, surround by coral with ledges and ridges.  Stingray and shellfish can often be found in the sand, whilst lobster, octopus and moray eels frequently can be found around the edges.

By boat only.  Site is in the sheltered crook of the island on the south west of Ginger Island, on the eastern side of the bay.  Approximately 30 minutes by boat from Road Town, or 20 minutes from East End.

Carval Rock is an excellent dive, which offers both the opportunity to go deep, but also to explore all the ledges, nooks and crannies that abut the island itself.  It is a popular site for both sharks and lobsters, as well as a host of other marine life.

It is not commonly dived by local dive operators because, despite being relatively close to a number of yacht anchoring spots, other dive sites are more proximate to those areas.

By boat only.  Site is located southwest of Ginger Island, and southeast of Cooper Island - about 25 minutes out of Road Town.

Mooring balls have been affixed to the site by the National Parks Trust.

Named after the blue chromis fish, the sand bottom Blue Chromis Reef features numerous corals with sea fans, gorgonians, quillfin blennias and others. In occasion, there might be swells, although the dive spot is mostly calm. It is a deep dive spot, but ideal for training, since it is difficult to get lost and the visibility is good. The depth ranges from 30ft to 90ft. Look inside the cracks to find anemones and shrimp.

Thumb Rock is an excellent reef dive, often overlooked in favour of nearby "Wreck Alley".  A large thumb shaped rock above the water is mirrored by a large thumbed shaped pinnacle below the water.  The site is on the tip of Cooper Island; although it is sheltered from the waves and the currents, it is still somtimes possible to see large pelagic ocean going fish swimming by.

By boat only.  Dive site is approximately 4 minutes from Coooper Island beach, or about 25 minutes from Road Town, Tortola.

Mooring balls have been affixed to the site by the National Parks trust.
