I was able to work here and had access to the entire beach head! beautiful coral reef, tons of fish, good fishing! I really doubt many people will consider this a destination for a vacation but for our military people who are processed thru the middle east at this base its awesome! I will post pictures later.

Kuwait naval base reef

Airifjan Wreck is a mid size cement cargo ship. bags of cement can still be seen in the hold area which is open. there is no penetration possible but there is some things to see like winches and valves. There can be barracudas when the Kuwaitis are not shooting them. Bat fish do come around as well as other large fish. There is a small reef next to the wreck in about 4 meter (this maybe what sank it)at low tide down to 12 meters. The vis can be low when the tide is coming and going. For diving other places in the world this would not even rate, but for a place to dive in Kuwait, it is one of the best. Anyone diving Kuwait knows how much fun trying to find a place can be.

Head south from city or Fahaheel along the coast until past the off shore oil filling stations about 10 minutes south south west (just a guess)of them is a channel marker tripod and 4 tie off mourings Fahaheel Sea Club is the normal shop that runs to this site.

Airifjan Wreck

There is many small reefs on the south end of the island and for Kuwait the depth is good. Barracudas can me seen in schools and every once in a while a whale shark will be in the area. 

Palms Hotel runs a boat to the island about every weekend (Friday and Saturday) the island is 32 kilometers due east of Shuaiba and 37 kilometers south of Failaka Island. It has a cell phone tower on it and not much else. The Kuwaitis go there to be "non-Muslim" so boat traffic and parties can be a hazard since Kuwaitis are not much into diving and the dive flag has not much meaning.

Mahfouz alsayegh says it is tag boat Plunged in 1998 by Saudi Aramco especially for the marine life and recreational diving Was found on Friday, july 30 2010 after losing position for 8 years by gulf reef explorers

from alfanateer course is 042 distance 20.5 nm 38km and from south of jana island course is 343 distance 3 nm 5.7 km
