Wreck of a mercantile ship sunk by a boat mine after the II WW , when she transported aids to Rijeka. One of most interesting wrecks in nord adriatic.
The cargo ship "VIS" was build 1921 in Port Glasgow by Dunlop, Bremner & Co. She was 79m long, 12,5m wide and had 2865 BRT.
On the 13th of february 1946 she was heading to Rasa to load a cargo of coal and was going close to the Istrian cost in a save declared corridor, because the minefields were still not cleared.
But a mine hit the ship on the portside and after 10 minutes the "VIS" was gone, causing a loss of 3 lives.
Now she is standing upright & intact on the sandy bottom and as the guy above said: "propably one of the best wrecks in the adriatic sea"!

#38 - Gr. Misi West
Croatia, Central adriatic
beginner
(0)
The dive site is a G. Misi shoal with the remains of a wreck, on an edge is just over 40m on sandy ground, the large stones on the ground are covered with gorgonians. If you have a Schiffswinsch, almost looks like a steering wheel, there appears to slow the slope, which is littered with old debris, but they are not so interesting, honest, the fish that hide in these. The slope goes up to about 3m, so you have a very entertaining safety or deco stop making ever after.
