Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Sweet Dreams

A more rugged site due to the proximity of the island's Southern most point, you'll enjoy the richness of more open-water sea life. 3.3 km South of White Slave.

The drop-off is almost immediate. Watch your current carefully, and note your landmarks as you are kicking out. Park as close to the shore as you like. The entrance can be a little hard to find. The coast is of course a little more rugged here.

At the drop off we swam to the right toward Vista Blue and had an extraordinary dive. Incredible variety of lush soft corals, gorgonians, and sponges. The fish population is plentiful and varied. Reef crest is relatively shallow, providing better illumination to admire the richness of this site. Sweet Dream makes a fine first dive or second.

My first trip Bonaire. Amazing. Did shore dives at 23 different sites. For me, this was a very solid dive but did not quite live up to the hype. I did not see any turtles or rays which perhaps is the reason for my lack of enthusiasm. The entry was very easy and the surface swim was short. There is no yellow float here so be careful to mark your spot before you descend. If you park close enough to the shore, your car will be visible and provide an easy mark.

After a week on Bonaire, we visited this because it was listed as a turtle sanctuary. We didn't find many turtles - but - we found the best dive site of the week! This dive site was in perfect health and appeared untouched. A short cruise over pure white sand at about 15' deep led to a 45 degree slope that dropped to about 130'. The slope is covered in an amazingly diverse variety of hard and soft corals. Wide fields of enormous Golden Sea Rods as well as other Gorgonians quite literally had us scribbling in our wetnotes about how amazing the view was. Good populations of fish, and the occasional pelagic topped this off to make this our #1 site of Bonaire.

Did an unmarked site (Yellow Hut) between red Slave and Sweet Dreams. The surge was not too problematic, and saw lots of soft corals, some staghorn and elkhorn corals in the shallows. Nice relaxing dive.

Pre-Lenny. Lots of soft coals, fire coral; saw snake eels, clouds of creaole wrasse, macro critters. A bit of current.
